UAE emerges as leading importer of Pakistani mangoes

UAE – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has solidified its position as the largest importer of Pakistani mangoes, as revealed by a recent report from Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce.

Over the past five years, the UAE has imported mangoes worth USD 159.74 million, making it the top destination for the renowned fruit.

Pakistani mangoes are celebrated globally for their rich flavor and high quality, and they remain a vital part of the nation’s agricultural export portfolio.

According to the Ministry’s report, Pakistan exported a total of USD 632.003 million worth of mangoes over the last five years.

Among other significant markets, the United Kingdom imported USD 131.96 million, Kazakhstan USD 93.86 million, Oman USD 39.88 million, Afghanistan USD 35.98 million, and Saudi Arabia USD 29.61 million during the same period.

“Pakistani mangoes have a unique flavor and quality that set them apart in global markets,” the report emphasized, highlighting the fruit’s continued contribution to Pakistan’s economic growth.

The demand for high-quality mangoes has surged in the UAE, fueled by the country’s diverse expatriate population.

The fruit has become a staple for many communities, and its popularity is expected to grow further. Projections indicate that mango production in the UAE could increase from 11,450 metric tons in 2021 to 12,260 metric tons by 2026, driven by both local production and imports.

“The UAE has consistently shown its appetite for premium mango varieties, and Pakistani mangoes meet that demand with their exceptional taste and texture,” the report added.

The Middle East and Africa mango market is also experiencing significant growth, with its value expected to reach USD 27,569.87 million by 2030, growing at an annual rate of 4.9%.

This expansion is attributed to rising health awareness and an increasing preference for fresh produce. Mangoes, known for their rich nutritional benefits, align well with this trend.

Government initiatives in the UAE further support this growth. By promoting sustainable agriculture and facilitating the import of premium fruits, the UAE government is enhancing market access for exporters.

“The government’s focus on sustainability and quality assurance has been instrumental in boosting the availability of top-grade mangoes,” the report stated.

Technological advancements are also playing a critical role in optimizing mango exports. Exporters now use data analytics to study market trends and understand consumer preferences.

These tools enable them to tailor their operations to meet demand more effectively, ensuring that consumers consistently receive high-quality produce.
