UGANDA – Johnnie Walker Uganda, a brand by Uganda Breweries (UBL), has unveiled a mentorship initiative called ‘She Walks,’ designed exclusively for women, aiming to inspire and empower them to navigate their paths with confidence in an evolving world toward inclusivity.

Under the theme “Purposeful Strides, Scaling Hills in Heels,” the program’s official launch gathered distinguished female leaders from various sectors, including banking, law, manufacturing, business, and politics, in an exclusive event.

Senior Presidential Advisor, Amelia Kyambadde, graced the occasion as the keynote speaker, sharing her remarkable journey of determination and triumph.

Addressing the attendees, Kyambadde emphasized the importance of women uniting to claim their space and highlighted the transformative power of initiatives like She Walks in fostering unity and empowerment.

Andrew Kilonzo, Managing Director of Uganda Breweries Ltd, expressed the brand’s commitment to inclusivity and progress, praising She Walks as a platform for celebrating women who have persevered and thrived in diverse capacities.

“She Walks is about bringing women together and celebrating those who, much like Johnnie Walker, have kept walking in their different spaces and capacities,” said Kilonzo.

“As Johnnie Walker and Uganda Breweries Ltd, the company’s stance on inclusivity lies at the core of our brand ethos, aligning seamlessly with our societal commitments for 2030.”

Catherine Ndungu, Marketing Director of Uganda Breweries Limited, emphasized the significance of She Walks as a movement rather than just an event, highlighting its role in showcasing the unique success stories of women.

“She Walks is not just an event; it is a movement, an agenda that we as a brand are intentional about,” Ndungu stated.

“We want to say that Johnnie Walker is for you, to celebrate your milestones, and to wind down with your colleagues/ peers.”

The launch of She Walks signifies Johnnie Walker’s dedication to championing women’s empowerment and fostering a culture of collaboration and inspiration.

Through this mentorship program, the brand aspires to spotlight the achievements of women while inspiring the next generation to strive for excellence.

In 2023, UBL in partnership with the office of the Luzira Women Councillor LC III offered agribusiness training and donated 2,000 mushroom gardens to Luzira single mothers.

A study from the World Bank indicates that females account for 76 percent of Uganda’s workforce in the agricultural sector and contribute about 60 percent to 80 percent to the production of locally consumed food.
