Ukraine’s MHP SE pursue acquisition of UVESA Group in Spain
SPAIN – MHP SE, a leading poultry producer based in Ukraine, revealed on December 11 that it has extended an offer to acquire UVESA Group, a Spanish processor of poultry and pork.
The deal, which is subject to shareholder approval, requires a minimum acceptance rate of 50.01% from UVESA’s investors.
This acquisition is part of MHP’s strategy to expand its global footprint, with a focus on increasing its presence in the Spanish market.
The company expressed its excitement about the potential to support Spain’s agricultural and food industries by leveraging its advanced production capabilities and expertise.
MHP intends to bring its established standards of animal welfare and product quality to Spain’s poultry sector.
The company said that its operations in Spain would create jobs, foster collaborations with local farmers and businesses, and help strengthen the country’s poultry supply chain.
MHP is already well-established in Ukraine, with a significant market share in the country, and has expanded its operations into Southeast Europe.
In addition to its Ukrainian operations, MHP owns Perutnina Ptuj, a fully owned subsidiary in the region.
The company also operates a poultry cutting facility in the Netherlands and has a joint venture in Saudi Arabia, along with sales and distribution offices in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the UK.
Globally, MHP exports up to 60% of its poultry products, reaching over 60 countries.
This international presence positions the company to expand further through strategic acquisitions.
In a separate development, MHP announced in September that the Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Co. (SALIC) acquired a minority stake of 12.6% in the company, valued at approximately US$220 million (13.5 million shares).
