UK – Nomad Foods Limited, one of the largest frozen foods companies in Europe,  has announced the appointment of Ruben Baldew as their new Chief Financial Officer.

He is set to replace Samy Zekhout, who will remain with the company until July 31 to assist with the transition of responsibilities.

Baldew joins Nomad Foods after serving as the CFO of Accell Group from 2018 until October 2023, where he gained significant experience in managing global consumer products.

His career also includes several finance roles at Unilever, providing him with a broad, international perspective from working in the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, and Thailand.

CEO Stefan Descheemaeker expressed his enthusiasm for Baldew’s arrival, stating, “We are excited to welcome Ruben to Nomad Foods. His dynamic leadership and extensive experience in financial management and other senior executive roles will strengthen our strategic plans and solid foundations.”

Descheemaeker also acknowledged Zekhout’s contributions, saying, “On behalf of everyone at Nomad Foods, I extend our gratitude to Samy for his significant impact on the company and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Co-Chairman and Founder of Nomad Foods highlighted Baldew’s proven track record, adding, “We are pleased to have Ruben join our team. His accomplishments as a CFO and his ability to lead key strategic initiatives are impressive. We look forward to his contributions to our business.”

The company produces, sells, and distributes a wide range of branded frozen food products across 13 European countries, with its primary markets being the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Sweden, and France.

This announcement follows Nomad Foods reiterating its positive sales volume guidance for the latter half of this year, despite experiencing three consecutive quarters of declining sales.

In the first quarter of 2024, the company reported a 2.2% drop in volume, following a 13% decline in the third quarter and an 8% dip in the final quarter of last year.
