GHANA – Unilever, the largest producer and retailer of consumer goods in Ghana has appointed Nazaire Djako as new Supply Director for Ghana effective March 8, 2018, reported GNA, quoting a statement from the company.
His role includes overseeing operations at the Unilever Tema factory, and liaising with other functional Directors to ensure effective manufacture and distribution of the company’s products on the Ghanaian market.
Prior to his appointment, Djako served as the Director of the Sourcing Unit in Cote d’Ivoire after working in South East Asia, Indonesia as Supply Chain Projects Director where he greatly contributed to various crucial projects.
He joined Unilever in 1997 as Management Trainee in CDI, then as Oil Refinery Engineer to Factory Manager Foods, before moving over to Ghana in 2008 where he started as the Chief Engineer and later as the Plant Manager for the Home, Personal Care and Foods categories.
He became the lead Supply Chain Manager for Ghana in 2010 and in 2012, then promoted to the position of GTM Supply Chain Director for Unilever West Africa (UWA), where he held the office till 2014.
The appointment comes after the company in collaboration with the agric ministry unveiled plans to start agro-processing including shea nuts, cashew and oil palm sourced locally.
In Ghana, Unilever produces blue band margarine brand and the Lipton beverage, and with the move, it seeks to expand its product portfolio into nutritious category.
Unilever, with over 100 years of experience in the manufacturing industry is embarking on a stronger supply chain with an aim to create jobs and enhance livelihoods of farmers and individuals along the value chain.
