GHANA – Unilever Ghana, the country’s largest producer and retailer of consumer goods has appointed Mrs Gladys Amoah as the new Managing Director effective November 1, 2018.

Prior to her appointment, the new MD was the Customer Development Director of Unilever Ghana, a position served since 1 November 2016, according to GNA.

She succeeds Mr Ziobeieton Yeo who resigned as the Managing Director of the Company effective November 1, 2018.

She has 20 years’ experience in Fast Moving Consumer Goods and held roles in both Customer Development and Marketing.

Amoah also has experience in Foods, Out of Home (restaurant markets), Personal Care and more recently Homecare.

She joined Unilever in 2012 and was the Customer Marketing Director for Hygiene in South Africa and Personal Care Portfolio as Customer Marketing Director.

Mr Mike Ubeh, Customer Development Director for General Trade, Nigeria, will succeed Gladys as Customer Development Director, Ghana’, from January 1, 2019, reporting to Gladys.

He has experience as a major contributor to the success of the Nigerian business over the past four years.

The new appointments follow that of Nazaire Djako who was named new Supply Director from March 8, 2018.

In 2016, the company also appointed two new directors to strengthen its management team.

These were Ms Nana Yaa Kissi, who was appointed Marketing Director to take over from Mr Clarence Nartey who decided to pursue other interests outside of Unilever after 15 years of service.

The second director was Mr. Michael Otchere Duah, put in charge as Human Resource Director.

Unilever Ghana’s revenue for the year ended 31 December, 2017 grew 16% to US$122.69 million from US$105.83 million in 2016 driven by increased volumes of sales and a stable economy.

The company is leveraging its operations to tame difficult economic challenges that has seen an increase in cost of raw materials and operating costs.
