UK-United Petfood, a Belgium international private-label pet food manufacturer has announced the acquisition of two production facilities of US-agri-food company Cargill.
One of the acquired sites in the Polish town of Krzepice while the second one is located in Karcag, a large town in Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county, in the Northern Great Plain region of central Hungary.
The acquired sites specialized in the production of dry pet food for cats and dogs and perfectly align with United Petfood’s strategy to reinforce and grow the business as a full-service private-label pet food producer.
Cargill, however, retains brand ownership of its pet food and will continue to provide a portfolio of its branded products.
United PetFood’s expansion comes at a time when global pet food market is growing rapidly driven by increasing rate of pet ownership globally, especially in developing countries.
Market research firm Fortune Business Insight projects the market to grow from US$115.50 billion in 2022 to US$163.70 billion by 2029, exhibiting a CAGR of 5.11%.

Keen on tapping this growing market, United petfood has continued to expand its label as a full-service pet food producer through the acquisition of established manufacturers.
This year, the Ghent-based pet food producer has increased its manufacturing space by taking over pet food manufacturers from France and UK.
Recently in October, the company announced the takeover of Gold line Feeds, an independent feed manufacturer with 80 years of experience and a supply of 20000 tons of dry pet food annually.
United Petfood took over the brands and customer base of the Gold Lines factory in Northamptonshire in the English Midlands.
In April, United Petfood acquired a factory in southwest France from French food company Neodis Group, a company that was producing dry pet food at the La Braconne site since 1976.
Last year, United Petfood bought Cambrian Pet Foods and Teeling Petfood expanding its market shares in the UK, the Netherlands, and Poland.
The acquisition by United Petfood widens its network in pet food manufacturing footprint as the group now operates 21 pet food facilities situated in 9 different European countries.
