NIGERIA – Corteva Agriscience, an agriculture solutions provider based in the United States, has launched its operations in Nigeria as it continues to expand its market reach and contribute to growth of the country’s agriculture sector.

The brand which was introduced to Nigerian farmers during the recently held Seed Connect Conference seeks to provide products and technology to farmers as well as penetrate the under-served market.

According to the company, the development highlights its continued footprint expansion across African markets, supporting its commitment to serving agricultural sector optimisation, reports ThisDay.

Additionally, Alain Pescay, the Commercial Director at Corteva Agriscience, North West, West, and Central Africa commercial area, noted that the firm is committed to supporting the Nigeria government in advancing its agriculture sector.

“We can’t do this alone and collaboration is central to what we do in Nigeria. We bring our vast diversity of resources, knowledge, and experience to support our mutual goals,” Alain highlighted.

However, Corteva has in the past worked in partnership with privately owned firms in the country through its Pioneer brand seeds, crop protection solutions as well as collaboration with Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc to develop maize hybrid seed in Nigeria.

The firm has also partnered the USAID in developing a West Africa trade hub through a US$60 million project for a new Global Development Alliance (GDA) to support smallholder farmers.

Corteva Agriscience is a major in seed technologies, crop protection, and digital Agriculture sectors as the agriculture division of DowDupoint.

Corteva Agriscience opens new hub in Morocco

In February this year, Corteva Agriscience launched its office in Casablanca, Morocco as the regional headquarters to serve the north-west & west central Africa region.

Corteva said that the new business centre will serve its customers, partners and consumers Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroun, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, Niger, Tunisia, Togo and Senegal.

This development aims at bringing farmers the right mix of seeds, crop protection and digital solutions to maximize their yields and improve their profitability in these markets.

The hub brings Corteva Agriscience offices across the African continent to four, with other offices operational in Cairo, Johannesburg, Nairobi and now Casablanca.
