USA—Seaboard Foods, a leading US pork processor, has appointed Chad Groves as the new CEO, succeeding Peter Brown, who is set to retire in June after three years of service.
Groves, who is being promoted from the company’s senior vice president position, brings extensive experience in the protein industry to his new position.
He joined Seaboard Foods in July 2021, and has been instrumental in leading various teams, including retail, food service, export, sales, marketing, sustainability, and innovation.
His background includes prior roles at Trilliant Food & Nutrition LLC and High Liner Foods, where he held key positions in sales and marketing.
Meanwhile, Brown’s impending retirement marks the culmination of a distinguished career spanning over three decades, with notable tenures at Butterball and High Liner Foods, among others.
Expansion into Asia
This leadership changes have been announced right after the company recently opened its first overseas sales office in Japan, a move meant to underscore its commitment to the Asian market and aims to strengthen relationships with local customers.
“We are thrilled to announce the opening of our first overseas sales office in Japan,” says Aaron Hunerdosse, Seaboard Foods vice president of international sales.
He also added that the newly established office will comprehend the distinctive requirements of the Japanese market, enabling them to provide top-quality pork products tailored to meet those specific needs.
Since the company’s inception in 1996, the company has established itself as a reliable provider of high-quality pork offerings to Japan – this office is just a means of strengthening the relation with local clientele.
“Our longstanding relationships with our Japanese customers have paved the way for our products to be found on the shelves of Japanese supermarkets, food service establishments and butcher shops across the nation,” said Charlie Yoshinaga, the newly elected Japan Office head.
