Vietnam’s cashew exports hit record high in 2024

Vietnam maintains its position as the world’s leading cashew exporter, recording a significant increase in both volume and value in 2024.

VIETNAM – Vietnam’s cashew industry ended 2024 on a strong note, achieving a record export volume of 730,000 tons worth US$4.37 billion.

According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, this represents a 13.3% increase in quantity and a 20.2% rise in value compared to 2023.

This milestone reinforces Vietnam’s dominance in the global cashew market for the 18th consecutive year. Vietnam maintains an estimated 80% share of worldwide cashew kernel exports.

In 2024, demand for Vietnamese cashews sharply rose across major regions. The Americas recorded the highest growth, at 30.4%, followed by notable increases in Asia and Europe.

The United States remained the largest importer, purchasing 179,480 tons valued at $1.07 billion—an increase of 31.6% from the previous year. China followed closely with 117,420 tons worth $687.84 million, reflecting a 14.4% growth.

“Despite facing production and market challenges, cashew exports remained one of Vietnam’s top agricultural sectors, surpassing US$3 billion in export value,” said Tran Huu Hau, Deputy Secretary General of the Vietnam Cashew Association (Vinacas).

The global cashew market, which stood at $7.78 billion in 2024, is projected to expand further. Estimates suggest it will reach US$8.14 billion in 2025 and grow to US$11.67 billion by 2033. The increasing demand for healthy and convenient food options is driving this growth.

The annual event, organized by the Vietnam Cashew Association, will take place from October 27 to 29, 2025, in Hanoi. The gathering is part of the country’s National Trade Promotion Program and is a key platform for discussions on market trends, networking, and industry developments.

VINACAS and stakeholders in the Vietnamese cashew sector have invited global cashew professionals and enthusiasts to participate in the event.

The conference will provide opportunities to explore trade prospects, assess industry challenges, and contribute to shaping the future of the cashew sector.

With Vietnam maintaining its leadership in cashew exports, the coming years will be crucial in sustaining growth, enhancing quality, and meeting the increasing global demand.

The country’s continued investment in trade promotion and industry advancements is expected to further solidify its market position.
