SWEDEN— Swedish-based pet food supplier Voff has acquired Nova Dog Chews, a European manufacturer of natural chews, treats and snacks with bases in the UK and France.

The Stockholm-based company believes that this takeover is an “important milestone” to further broaden its portfolio of natural premium pet food brands and strengthen its position in the UK as well as the broader European market.

We are delighted that Nova is joining Voff,” said Mårten Bernow, chief executive officer of Voff. “With their outstanding products and great brands, we are really impressed by what the Nova team have achieved.

This acquisition further strengthens Voff’s product portfolio within the chews, treats and snacks category and adds great brands with presence across Europe. It is another important milestone in our mission to provide pet owners with the very best natural, premium products to enable their pets to be happy and healthy.”

Established in 2004, Nova Dog Chews has over 200 different products available under the brands Highland Antler, Yak Snacks and Paddock Farm, and supplies customers throughout the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.

“We have had a great journey building Nova across Europe for the past 18 years, and we now look forward to taking the next step together with the Voff team, and are excited about the opportunities that will come from joining Voff,” claimed Nova founders Antoon Murphy and Lloyd Murdoch.

Voff has continued to expand organically and through acquisition since its inception in 2014. Last year, it bought the Finnish Aristo Oy, manufacturer of natural chews and treats RAUH!, in a bid to expand its operations in Northern Europe.

The company also acquired Carne’s Doggi, a fast-growing German producer and seller of frozen dog food and natural treats as well as Aniforte’s natural supplements brand.

The company now markets nine main brands across Europe, covering raw pet food (BARF), natural air-dried treats, natural pet supplements, chews and bird food.

Last July, Voff was bought from its former owners Systematic Growth by Nordic private equity firm Axcel, in a bid to advance its leadership position in the European pet nutrition space.
