INDIA – Global retail giant, Walmart has opened 25th Cash & Carry outlet in Indore, Madhya Pradesh as it continues to expand its convenient store service to local businesses in India.

The new store is integrated with B2B e-commerce platform, making it the 25th Best Price store to go online, according to an ET Retail report.

The outlet is a one-stop shop for 5,000 products including a broad variety of fresh, frozen and chilled ingredients, fruits and vegetables, dry grocery stores, private and home care products.

According to Walmart India, establishment of the outlet will generate 2,000 immediate and indirect employment while boosting local economy.

It also boosts the ecosystem of small and medium scale suppliers, promoting local producers by directly sourcing them, and offering instruction.

“We are at an exciting juncture of our journey in India as we complete a decade of operations in the country, delighting over one million members, largely kiranas, and contributing to the local and national economies,” said Krish Iyer, President & CEO, Walmart India.

“Today as we unveil our 25th Cash & Carry Store in the country, I would like to thank all our members, partners, associates and stakeholders for their overwhelming support & contribution to the success of our business.”

The store comes with benefits such as discounted prices, door-step delivery, convenient payment solutions and offering quality products to hotels, restaurants and caterers.

Walmart India has identified Madhya Pradesh as an important state where targeted investment is expected.

The new store is the second in the city of Indore and fourth in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

“The first store opened here in August 2011 and we have been receiving an overwhelming response from our members to our exciting range of product assortment, quality, and price,” said Iyer.

“The region significantly contributes to our business as we have been sourcing various commodities and fruits and vegetables from the region, and our associates in these stores have been going over & beyond to meet member needs.”
