The five-year contract will see Aldi become the UK’s largest seller of British wagyu steaks. Warrendale Wagyu has been supplying Aldi since 2020 and works with 800 British farmers.
UK – A Yorkshire-based wagyu beef producer, Warrendale Wagyu, has signed a new supply deal with Aldi, securing a long-term agreement with the UK’s fourth-largest supermarket.
Warrendale Wagyu, a family-run business founded in 2017, will supply British wagyu steaks to Aldi stores across the country under a five-year contract valued at approximately US$407 million (£320 million).
The agreement will expand the availability of British wagyu in Aldi outlets nationwide, making it the largest retailer of the premium beef in the UK.
Aldi estimates that once the rollout is complete later this year, it will sell 2.5 million wagyu steaks annually.
Warrendale Wagyu currently works with 800 farmers across Britain, providing financial stability for those in its supply chain.
The company has been supplying Aldi since 2020 and has steadily increased production to meet growing demand.
Jim Bloom, the founder of Warrendale Wagyu, described the deal as a major step for the business, highlighting its efforts to collaborate with UK farmers in producing high-quality wagyu beef.
The company is looking to tap into the Wagyu beef market in the UK.
In the UK beef market, Wagyu beef represents 1.8% of the circa 1.9 million beef-sired calves born annually.
This signifies a significant increase in Wagyu beef production and consumption, driven by rising consumer demand.
In addition to expanding its partnership with Aldi, Warrendale Wagyu has been developing new product lines.
In April last year, the company launched a range of pre-rubbed meats, featuring products such as Argentinian Bavette, Southern Style Skewers, Texan Brisket, and Mexican Smoked Short Ribs.
These products are designed for consumers looking for quick meal solutions without compromising on taste.
Warrendale Wagyu’s operations manager, Wayne Standley, stated that the pre-seasoned meats maintain the brand’s signature wagyu flavor while offering a convenient option for customers who may not have time for extensive food preparation.
The range is available for purchase on the company’s website.
Warrendale Wagyu received a King’s Award for Innovation in 2024, recognizing its work with British dairy and beef farmers.
The company has developed a unique approach to wagyu production, ensuring quality while supporting local agriculture.
