UGANDA – Yalelo Uganda has been awarded the title of the most outstanding exhibitor at the 2024 Buganda Expo.
The company, known for its innovative approach to tilapia farming, operates large-scale fish cages in Lake Victoria, which are among the biggest in Africa.
These expansive cages allow the tilapia to thrive in a natural environment, swimming freely against the lake’s currents, resulting in healthier and more robust fish.
The fish are fed a carefully formulated diet of soy, maize, and wheat, which ensures they maintain optimal health.
Yalelo Uganda emphasizes transparency in their farming practices, assuring consumers that the high-quality feed directly contributes to the clean and desirable taste of their fish.
Tilapia, a popular choice for health-conscious consumers, offers numerous nutritional benefits, including being a rich source of protein, Omega 3 fatty acids, and calcium, while being low in fat and cholesterol.
Yalelo Uganda’s operations, which adhere to international standards, are aimed at making high-quality, fresh tilapia more accessible and affordable.
This positions their product as a competitive alternative to traditional protein sources like chicken, pork, and beef.
The company is also committed to maintaining the integrity of its supply chain. From the moment the fish are harvested, they are kept on ice and transported nationwide using a fleet of refrigerated trucks, ensuring that customers receive fresh, high-quality fish with every purchase.
Yalelo Uganda, derived from the Bantu word meaning “for today,” has become synonymous with freshness and quality in the local market, solidifying its reputation as Uganda’s leading supplier of fresh fish.
