CHINA – Chinese dairy giant, Yili Group, has launched its new Global Smart Manufacturing Industrial Park in Hohhot, China to serve as a global hub for the dairy and health industries.
Dubbed the “Dairy Silicon Valley” the Industrial Park applies world-class intelligent equipment and takes full advantage of leading technologies such as the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence.
The Valley is also home to six national platforms, including the National Center of Technology Innovation for Dairy and the National Metrology and Testing Center for Dairy Products.
At the launch, the company said four major projects, including a liquid milk production base, a milk powder production, the Chilechuan Ecological Intelligent Pasture, and the Yili Intelligent Manufacturing Experience Center, are in operation.
The milk powder production site, with an investment of RMB 3 billion (US$445 million), is said to be the world’s largest infant formula production base.
It has an annual production capacity of 60,000 [metric] tons and features the highest level of digitization and advanced technologies.
With a total investment of RMB five billion (US$741 million), the liquid milk production base covers an area of about 950 mu, equivalent to the field of the play area of 89 FIFA World Cup stadiums.
The production base as noted by the dairy company employs world-leading digital equipment that can ensure unmanned, transparent, efficient and traceable production processes.
The unit can process 6,500 tons of fresh milk per day, which can meet a megacity’s daily demand, according to Yili.
Chilechuan Ecological Intelligent Pasture, a supporting farm for the Valley, occupies an area of 11,250 mu and has received a total investment of RMB 700 million (US$ 103.82M).
It is equipped with world-class systems for automatic management and smart low-carbon management with which the company aims to create and share prosperity with farmers, herdsmen, and industrial partners working in the area.
Dr. Zhanyou Yun, assistant president of Yili Group said: “Exploring the development of dairy industrial clusters, the program is expected to boost regional economic growth and accelerate the growth of global health industries.”
Asia’s largest dairy company anticipates that by integrating industry, tourism, and urban functions, Yili Future Intelligence and Health Valley will generate greater ecological, social, and economic benefits by 2035.
