NETHERLANDS – Netherlands-based Zalmhuys Group has acquired a minority stake in Anova Seafood, a strategic move aimed at enhancing its presence in the seafood industry.

Zalmhuys, who already have four companies namely Affish, Affish Fresh, Ocean Fish, and Het Urker Zalmhuys, want to add Anova to increase its involvement in various aspects of seafood distribution and processing.

The decision to invest in Anova Seafood, a prominent distributor of fresh and chilled seafood across Europe, underscores Zalmhuys Group’s commitment to expanding its portfolio and strengthening its seafood sourcing, processing, and sales capabilities.

According to the Group’s CEO Harm ten Napel, the acquisition of Anova Seafood presents significant growth opportunities and aligns with the company’s philosophy of offering a comprehensive range of seafood products.

“Adding Anova’s experience and product portfolio to our current business sees a lot of potential and will further strengthen our position in the seafood industry. It will greatly contribute to the philosophy ‘all your seafood in one place’,” he said.

According to the Zalmhuys Group, the  strategic collaboration between Zalmhuys Group and Anova Seafood is viewed as a pivotal step towards consolidating their positions in the market – by combining their strengths and resources, both companies aim to capitalize on emerging opportunities and drive sustainable growth in the seafood sector.

This acquisition comes on the heels of Zalmhuys Group’s recent expansion initiatives, including the construction of a new fish-smoking plant in Urk and the acquisition of smoked salmon group H. van Wijnen.

Looking ahead, Zalmhuys Group remains optimistic about the potential for growth and innovation in the seafood industry.
