ZAMBIA – Zambeef Products Plc, one of Zambia’s largest producers of beef and other food products including dairy has opened a new macro store, Chalala to enable customers easily access its meat and dairy products.

The new Macro outlet adds to the company’s strong retail chain network in Zambia consisting of 78 retail outlets, 19 macro stores, two wholesale stores, three fast food outlets, 17 Novatek outlets and 12 Zamshu outlets.

Zambeef noted that it increased its retail footprint in 2017 by 28 per cent, successfully opening ten new Macro outlets in 2017 and all on premises owned by the food company.

The expansion is in line with the company’s strategy to increase footprint in the retail network with focus on increased production capacity across their cold chain food production facilities.

“The progressive expansion of our retail business will ensure that Zambeef continues to play a leading role in providing food to a fast growing and urbanising population and Chalala, which is part of the newly designated Rockfield Township, is an illustration of this growth,” said said Zambeef Retail and Corporate Affairs Manager, Mr Felix Lupindula.

The stores were designed to reflect international standards, emphasise hygiene and food safety, with ample storage capacity, parking space, security, convenience and ease of access as well as an appealing shopping environment.

Zambeef has continued expansion of its network in meat, dairy and poultry as it seeks to meet the growing demand for high-quality protein among consumers.

The Zambian meat producer and processor has formed partnerships with Shoprite, the South African grocery chain even as the SA retailer embarks on expanding into Africa with new distribution partnerships.

Shoprite runs all its butcheries and Zambeef supplies these butcheries located in both Zambia and Nigeria.

Zambeef’s West African retail operations consist of 28 Shoprite stores across Nigeria and Ghana, plus six retail outlets and one U Save outlet in Nigeria.
